The Ask:
St. John’s University sought to implement a building-wide AV over IP system for their newly constructed St. Vincent’s Health Sciences Center. The goal was to provide advanced, flexible audiovisual capabilities to support modern teaching methods, including hybrid and flexible (HyFlex) learning environments.
Our Approach
Mason Technologies partnered directly with St. John’s University, working closely with their team and the general contractor to ensure the university’s vision for the new St. Vincent’s Health Sciences Center was not only met but exceeded. After listening to their initial needs, we conducted detailed walkthroughs of the space, identifying additional opportunities to enhance their technology capabilities—all while staying within budget. By collaborating with the university, we provided a solution that delivered even more functionality and innovation than they originally imagined, without sacrificing quality or exceeding costs.
Within this new state-of-the-art building, our team designed, built, and deployed fully integrated AV systems in every classroom and conference room, while also installing digital signage throughout the facility.
Each new classroom was equipped with:

18+ years as a trusted partner to St. John’s University, securing tens of millions of dollars in contracts, delivering over 300 projects since 2020 alone, including Structured Cabling (fiber/copper), Audio Visual, Data Centers, and Security solutions across all main campuses and facilities spanning Queens, NYC, and Staten Island.

Acted as in-house cabling vendor since 2012, supporting major expansions, fiber upgrades, WAP migrations, and break-fix needs, including transitioning the entire fiber ring of the Queens campus during the St. Vincent’s Hall demolition and rebuilding. Overall, we’ve installed millions of feet of cable including fiber and 1800-pair copper feeders for campus- wide connectivity.

Upgraded over 85 classrooms during active academic seasons to HyFlex standards, integrating cutting-edge AV solutions like PTZ cameras, ceiling microphones, room scheduling touch displays, and centralized digital management, while avoiding classroom disruptions across multiple high-traffic campus buildings.

Holds an in-house Service and Maintenance Agreement to service and maintain campus-wide overhead paging and evacuation system, ensuring reliable critical communications.

Designed and deployed a centralized digital signage platform, installing over 50 displays for campus-wide messaging and communication.

Enhanced campus security with a full re-cabling and conduit installation for the main parking garage as part of a camera initiative with Public Safety, and full A/V and security upgrades to their Queens campus command center surveillance hub.

Upgraded the Carnesecca Arena press feeds, integrating live feeds for production trucks, office staff, and concession stand displays.

Designed and built St. John’s IT Department headquarters in Newman Hall, featuring experimental LED signage, executive offices, conference rooms, and a Tech Help Bar with a video wall for campus-wide laptop support.
